Il profumo dell’estate di Australian Gold

Australian Gold

P

CONTINUA…

It seems like taking leave from my products has saved Bianca’s love story. And with that beautiful golden color she looks so self-conscious.
The collection has been given back to me after her return from the Elba Island and now it is my turn to take a week off. Holyday: a period of time off work and off school often coinciding with the summer time. Mine is called the week at the seaside with my children, and it is like the total loss of any kind of freedom – that is: going mental. I believe there is a genetic selector that keeps only good memories alive or else I could not explain myself how I find the courage each time to book for next year or even to looking forward to it. The kids grow up and go their tantrums-strewn way. Each target age has its own whims. My kids are four and seven, but they hate doing something specific: they hate putting on any kind sun screen. Last year Giacomo has stolen the spray from my hand to use it all over my face and make me go blind. The previous year I broke my toe while running after Camilla in the attempt to put some sunscreen on her back. This time it will be different: I have made an infallible plan to appease their subversive souls and save my neck.
We arrived in Positano last night, and today I have set the alarm clock half an hour in advance in order to spare some time for meditation / autogenic training. In truth it was more a question of praying the Rosary to receive a signal grace: being more patient. Sometimes my kids can be devilish. They can only get on my nerves that bad.
After making the sign of the cross I go on to step 2. I open the window and let the sound of the waves and sunlight shower into the room to let them sweetly wake up. It doesn’t work. It is the air bed I have promised them that makes the trick and I have them up and ready in no time. A 90 kg swan 2 meters by four. A ready-inflated thing I have bought from the tobacconist and carried on my back all the way to the beach: a five minutes route pleasantly dressed by some “are-you-trying-to-kill-yourself” comments of the by-passers.
Once reached destination, I understand it is about time I faced them. I have to find a way to explain to them the importance of screening themselves against the sun. Although you can turn to plagiarism in order to educate your children, never forget they are cunning, fast and that they are smart. If you decide you are going to make up a story, well… make up a good one or you may end up burning yourself for tripping on details. To that end, over the past few years I have learnt a lot: wherever you are, there is always a shop selling Australian Gold. This time it is the turn of my Koala friend. I lay the towels on the sun loungers and I let Camilla and Giacomo sit down on them. I slowly draw near with my  SPF50 Kids Lotion ideal for delicate skins not used to sun exposure. It is a long lasting lotion, even after running or playing or bathing in the water. It is rich in hydrating ingredients and mineral oils free.
The colored bottle stands there on one of the towels while I start imitating the Koala voice:
“Hi, I am the koala!” I begin amused while waiting for some kind of reaction. Giacomo smiles back.
“Cute mum, what’s its name?” he asks.
I don’t have a clue! I only know it is the replica of Karl Lagerfeld!
Camilla is looking at me in bewilderment.
Let me think of it: it’s a koala, it’s Australian…
“… Sydney!” I snap my fingers.
But Camilla keeps staring at me distrustfully.
I must persuade Bonnie and Clyde to put on some sunscreen.
“Do you know me?” making my voice smaller.
“Giacomo don’t swallow the bite, can’t you see it’s mum?” Camilla whispers.
“I am your friend going to screen you from sun rays. If you go without me, you may get sun burnt and that means you can no longer swim.” I add suasive with my helium voice.
Their upset look makes me understand that this is the worst way to threaten a kid at the seaside. Happy with the result I put my hand into the bag and grab the other bottle that Camilla will probably remember. This time she smiles.
“Mum it’s the after sun: the one that smells like summer! I remember you used to put it on me when I was small.”
While I would have add and specify: smaller, Giacomo joins in the conversation while smelling his palm:
“Why? It smells like spun sugar!”
“Yep, but you can’t eat it. Forever After is used after the shower and helps keeping your skin nice and soft after a day at the beach.”
He looks at me nodding.
Bingo.
If only I said Forever After is one of Australian Gold’s Top seller he would have never understood me. 24 hours perfect hydration to make your suntan last longer. Its anti-ageing, toning and slimming formula makes it the perfect product for the winter too.
And while I look at Bonnie and Clyde putting the cream on each other amused, I understand that it’s all thanks to its summer scent. Now I smile too thinking about the story of the genetic selection: maybe it is true we are made to remember only the good things.
