Quale sarà il suo segreto?

AUSTRALIAN GOLD

S

Come faccio?

If there is something I can’t stand is the total lack of organization. Something must have gone wrong during the conception of our children, why share a house with three crazy brats that have no idea whatsoever of what order and precision are? It is hard for a woman like me who needs to have everything under control.
Giacomo is only four, the alibi of his young age partly excuses him. Perhaps Camilla too may get remission on behalf of her seven years: she is still very small. My husband Michele though, I summarily sentence him.
All our friends call him Mitch, like Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch, for his sculptured body hiding under his daily bank director outfit. Although I can’t deny that such nick name really suits him, to me, he is still Turner from Turner & Hooch.
Michele is a real mess. The very mess I am trying to clear now, before going to work.
We are supposed to go to a wedding tomorrow, I must place the kids, call a nanny, get everything ready for dinner… and I still don’t know what to wear. I hope I’ll find something suitable in the office.
Being the CEO of the accessories department of a famous fashion brand has its benefits. I get on the car and leave the house. On my way to work I start wondering about my dress, I imagine it: a short dress and a shiny color. I start picturing myself in my mind and without a sun-tan it looks really awful on me.
I park the car close to my office with a broken heart, I take the elevator and enter my reign, where two of my colleagues are waiting for me: Chiara and Bianca. Their names should be of comfort to me, but they are not.
Chiara is the most feared single lady in town. A super sexy babe with a light Californian Barbie-like suntan. While I am staring at her wondering what the secret of her perfect suntan might be, Bianca walks into the office welcoming me with a: “Good morning Olivia.”
Bianca is the Italian version of Grace Coddington. Red headed, sought-after looks, scarce self-confidence make-up and a complexion that would make a burrata look pale in comparison. Have you ever felt like running for self-check when you see something in somebody else’s appearance that you don’t like? Well, that milky-complexion really resembles mine, it is about time I did something.
It is too cold to sunbathe but I want to wear that colorful dress no matter what. There is only one way out: self-tanning. It strikes me like a bullet in my head. Shortly after that sudden burst of joy though, I imagine myself with a tangerine color and I am again horrified. What am I going to do? Where’s the trick?
“Olivia, come here take a look!” says Chiara pointing at her computer screen. I draw near, but instead of looking at the screen, my attention is caught by a leaflet on her desk. What I find so amazing is a Koala wearing sun glasses that is being associated with the perfect suntan. How comes I didn’t think of it before? Now I know her secret: Australian GoldI quickly read the name of the product on the leaflet and I try to fix it in my mind: Instant Sunless Spray. For a perfect bronze color in just 2 – 4 hours. Fast-drying, hydrating and rich in Vitamin C that protects collagen. For an intense long-lasting suntan. “Can you excuse me for a moment?” I ask while I walk away, “I was almost forgetting the guys from prêt-à-porter, I must see them for a styling.” – Bullshit. I need to pick my dress up, no time.
As it usually happens, when I fall in love with a dress it is not me choosing the dress, it’s the dress that chooses me. I hold it close to the waist, look at myself in the mirror and think that with little IInstant Sunless Spray it will be just perfect. I have it wrapped and ready for me to bring home. The wedding is tomorrow.
