MSGM spring summer 2013

MSGM PRIMAVERA ESTATE 2013

BY MATTEO MANZINI For the next spring summer, Massimo Giorgetti has designed a collection inspired to Africa, or better New-Africa. MSGM staff, BesideCom and Riccardo Grassi have welcomed me in a room full of mirrors of an immaculate apartment located in a prestigious ancient building in Via Cossa. It has been a plunge into the past, a setting recalling the old movies of the 60’s in which Italian couturiers presented their creations in their marvellous ateliers in Rome… An alluring and relaxing atmosphere. The first pieces modelling are white, optical white, characterised by a Masai-like panther print, then monkeys, gazelles, micro and macro Navajo prints, kaleidoscopic graphic patchworks with tribal incursions. Mirrored sunglasses for real urban-girls, small turbans and pumps reinterpreting the Navajo and tribal prints of the dresses. The must-have of this brand is the Tweed-Jacket, that this time has been covered with embroidered trimming and micro pearls. The silhouette is straight for micro tunics, over in jackets or tops or again flared for printed dresses. Ethnic style merges with military, a-jour embroiders mix with lace and fringes with macramé… One of the best and most exciting collections of Milan Fashion week. I think that the big names of fashion should take a step back and take inspiration from the young talents like Massimo!
